Bloukrans Bridge, in the heart of the Garden Route in South Africa, is home to the highest bridge bungy jump in the world, towering 216 metres above the Bloukrans river.

Needless to say, Rich was really looking forward to doing this bungy jump and I am still really looking forward to wine tasting in Stellenbosch!

Although I had decided not to do the bungy jump, I did sign up for the bridge walk over to the bungy platform, which itself is a challenge for those who are not the greatest fan of heights, including me.

Thankfully the bridge walk was short, taking only a few minutes and gave us spectacular views through the dramatic landscape that heads down to the ocean and back up the valley.

There were around 20 people in our group, with everyone but me harnessed up ready for the bungy. The atmosphere on the platform was electric, party like in fact, with a DJ playing music, each employee and all of us bouncing along to the beats.

Our group may have been slightly louder than the usual crowd they get up there, with 14 US uni girls cheering, dancing and singing for the entire time we were there, it was certainly noisey.  I can’t say it was because of their noise that I felt compelled to face my fear and jump off the bridge but for some reason I opted in for the bungy jump at the eleventh hour too.

Needless to say, Rich absolutely loved the adrenalin rush of the bungy jump and is already looking out for other scenic places on our travels where he can do more. I on the other hand have ticked the box for ‘do a bungy jump’ and will not be doing another one again!
